Excess Energy – our PR company from Newquay – recently put together a press release about our Cliff Edge development, and we absolutely loved it. So much so, in fact, that we thought we’d share it on our website.

We’ve tweaked the original slightly so that it’s us talking to you. We felt it would be odd to talk about ourselves in the third person!

Horace Billinge - known as Harry - was just 18 years old when he was one of the first British soldiers to land on Gold Beach on June 6, 1944.

He said the hell he went through that day never left him, and so he dedicated the rest of his life to ensuring the sacrifices of his comrades would never be forgotten. He was a well-known face around the St Austell and Charlestown area and was regularly seen fundraising.

This photo, kindly shared with us by Charlestown local tour guide and author of Charlestown Time & Tide - Lyndon D Allen, shows but a snippet of the fascinating history and transformation of Charlestown that Harry would have lived through.

Rest in well-earned peace Harry.
